Skills for Life

Tribal enjoys a national and international reputation for work in basic skills and Skills for Life. We developed the national standards for QCA and national core curricula for adult literacy and numeracy. Our own Target Skills product suite is the market leader, and our basic skills products are now used in more than 350 UK FE Colleges.

In 2003, Tribal was commissioned to deliver Move On - a £4.5 million adult basic skills project as part of the Government's Skills for Life strategy, aimed at helping adults pass the National Tests in literacy and numeracy. At the beginning of 2004 we were awarded a contract to deliver a significant segment of the National LSC Quality Initiative for Skills for Life, providing curriculum training for practitioners with a focus on JobCentre Plus and the Prison Service, as well as other types of delivery organisation, throughout England.

We offer extensive consultancy services in the Skills for Life area.

We have undertaken a significant amount of product development linked to basic and key skills, including:

  • Tribal products including Target Skills
  • development of core basic skills materials for the DfES
  • design and development of online learning materials in basic skills for the National Learning Network on behalf of the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency (Becta).
