Move On

Move On websiteMove On is concerned with using national literacy and numeracy qualifications at Level 1 and Level 2 to motivate and support people developing their literacy and numeracy skills. It supports a direct approach to promotion, recruitment and delivery, and includes Get On at work (for use with employers) and the National Test Toolkit.

Move On uses the national qualifications in Adult Literacy and Numeracy for promotion and recognition of skills development at Levels 1 and 2. It aims to encourage learners who would not normally see themselves as basic skills learners but who have moderate skills needs, to brush up and gain a qualification in English or maths.

The Move On approach consists of three elements:

  • a taster session for learners to assess whether Move On is right for them
  • a short brush-up course in English or maths leading to the National Test when ready
  • briefing sessions for recruiters and influencers.

Move On:

  • is a positive sell, offering the new qualifications in English and maths rather than the weaker 'do you need help with your reading, writing and maths?' approach
  • engages and trains recruiters in the community, in education and in the workplace
attracts non-traditional learners into structured learning
  • adds value to other courses
  • fits the LSC Funding Mechanism
  • helps with reaching targets
  • offers an opportunity for staff and students in other curriculum areas to update and upgrade their own literacy and numeracy skills and gain a national qualification.
